A breathtakingly vibrant hand-knotted Oushak rug that brings a garden of blooms indoors — sky blue field, ivory border, navy medallion, and a riot of botanical colour that transforms any room into a statement space.

Why This Rug Works in Your Room

  • Palette Pairing: The fresh sky-blue field and crisp ivory border anchor the rug in a cool-neutral base, while pops of navy, chartreuse-yellow, golden amber, and teal create a palette that pairs beautifully with walnut furniture, rattan, white walls, and jewel-toned throw pillows. This rug IS the colour in the room — let it lead.
  • Pattern Style: A lavishly detailed all-over floral botanical with a striking navy blue central medallion, tree branch motifs, and scattered flowers across the entire field. The design draws from classical Ottoman botanical traditions with a modern freshness — maximalist without being chaotic, playful without being whimsical.
  • Wool Quality: Woven in 100% New Zealand wool at 90–100 KPSI, the dense pile captures every colour gradation vividly — rich navy dyes and bright yellow-greens that would be impossible to achieve in machine-made alternatives. The result is a rug that holds colour for generations.

Handmade Craftsmanship

This rug is woven by master artisans in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur region of India — the world's hand-knotted wool heartland — using traditional vertical looms and time-honoured knotting techniques passed down through generations. Each rug takes approximately 45 days to complete across 10 distinct production stages, from hand-spinning and natural dyeing to washing, stretching, and finishing. The result is 100% pure New Zealand wool, knotted at 90–100 KPSI (knots per square inch) for exceptional density and longevity. There is no backing — the foundation is visible on the reverse, proof of authentic hand-knotting. The fringe is integral to the warp, not sewn on. Natural abrash (subtle tonal variation across the field) is inherent to handmade rugs and adds warmth and character over time.

Where to Put It

This rug was made to be the star of a living room, dining room, or library. Its sky-blue field is surprisingly versatile — it works as a cool counterpoint to warm ochre and terracotta accents, and as a complement to teal, navy, and blue-green sofas or curtains. An 8×10 or 9×12 under a full seating group is the classic choice; a 6×9 in a reading nook creates an intimate jewel-box effect. Also stunning in entryways where first impressions matter most.

Care

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only attachment (no beater bar). Rotate every 6–12 months for even wear. For spills, blot immediately — do not rub. Professional cleaning recommended every 2–3 years. Keep out of direct sustained sunlight to preserve dye integrity.

FAQs

Q: The colours look very vivid — will they bleed or run?
A: All dyes are professionally set and hand-washed during the finishing process. Rugyfy rugs undergo a colour-fastness wash before leaving the workshop. Bleeding is extremely rare with proper care — avoid soaking the rug and always blot (never rub) spills.

Q: How do I style this rug without it overwhelming the room?
A: The sky-blue field and ivory border act as natural neutrals — keep large furniture pieces in whites, creams, warm woods, and navy to let the rug breathe. Use one or two colours from the rug's accent palette in your cushions or artwork to tie the room together without competing with the pattern.

Q: Is this suitable for a dining room?
A: Absolutely. Choose a size that extends at least 24 inches beyond your dining table on all sides so chairs remain on the rug even when pulled out. A 9×12 works well for a 6–8 person table.
