A soft sage-green rug with a playful scalloped edge and plush, cloud-like pile — hand-tufted in 100% pure New Zealand wool by skilled artisans.

Why This Rug Works in Your Room

  • The scalloped, irregular edge brings the soft organic shapes trend into the room — curved, gentle and modern.
  • Muted sage green feels calm and restful, perfect for bedrooms and nurseries.
  • A plush solid-colour pile is luxurious underfoot and layers easily with patterned bedding or cushions.

Perfect For Every Room

In bedrooms, a 5x8 or 6x9 alongside or at the foot of a queen bed is ideal. In nurseries and kids' rooms, a 4x6 or 5x7 gives a soft play area. In living rooms, an 8x10 under a curved sofa adds a relaxed organic look. In reading corners, a 4x4 or 5x5 works under an accent chair.

Handmade Craftsmanship

This rug is 100% handmade by hand-tufting in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur rug belt of India. Our artisans draw the design onto a foundation cloth stretched on a frame, then punch every strand of 100% pure New Zealand wool through the cloth by hand with a tufting tool. When tufting is complete, the back is coated with latex and a secondary cloth backing is glued on to lock the pile firmly in place. Finally, the pile is hand-sheared and hand-cut along the scalloped outline, and the edges are hand-bound. Gentle tonal variation in the sage wool gives the plush field a soft, natural depth — a sign of true handwork, not a defect.

Custom Sizes, Colours & Trade Orders

Need a size that isn't listed, or this design in your own palette? We hand-tuft custom sizes and colourways in 100% pure New Zealand wool. Interior designers, architects and hospitality buyers can contact us for trade pricing, CAD colour matching and multi-piece orders.

Made to Order & Delivery

Every rug is made to order. From order to your door takes about 25-30 days (tufting, backing, finishing and shipping to the USA).

Care

Vacuum regularly without a beater bar and rotate the rug every 6 months for even wear. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub. Keep the rug dry: do not soak, steam-clean or wet-wash it, as excess moisture can damage the latex backing. Light shedding in the first few weeks is normal for a new tufted wool pile and settles with regular vacuuming. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner experienced with hand-tufted rugs. Use a non-slip rug pad underneath.

FAQs

How is the size measured on a scalloped rug?
The listed size is the overall outer length and width, measured across the widest points of the scallops.

Can I get the scalloped rug in another colour?
Yes. We hand-tuft this shape in cream, blush, terracotta, sky blue or any colour you choose — contact us for a custom order.

Is this rug 100% wool and handmade?
Yes. The pile is 100% pure New Zealand wool with no other fiber, and the rug is handmade by hand-tufting — our artisans punch every strand through the foundation cloth by hand. It is not machine-made.

What is the difference between hand-tufted and hand-knotted?
A hand-knotted rug is built knot by knot on a loom and has no glued backing. A hand-tufted rug, like this one, is made by punching wool through a foundation cloth with a hand-held tufting tool, then finished with a latex and cloth backing. Tufting allows the plush, cloud-like pile and custom shapes like this scalloped edge.
