A warm rust-terracotta field framed by a soft sage green border, with honey, cream and green palmettes — this hand-knotted Sultanabad Oushak rug is 100% pure New Zealand wool, every knot tied by hand by master weavers in Bhadohi-Mirzapur, India.
Why This Rug Works in Your Room
- Earthy and inviting: rust and sage is a natural, sun-baked pairing that brings instant warmth to wood, leather and linen interiors — perfect for fall and all year round.
- Soft, aged look: muted honey gold and cream palmettes over a gently abrashed field give the rug a relaxed, vintage-inspired character.
- The classic Sultanabad pattern: large palmettes linked by angular vines form an open allover lattice that reads beautifully from every side of the room.
Perfect For Every Room
Living room: an 8x10 or 9x12 anchors a sofa and two chairs. Bedroom: a 6x9 under a queen bed, an 8x10 under a king. Dining room: a 9x12 or 10x14 lets chairs slide out without catching the edge. Entryway: a 3x5 or 4x6. Hallway and kitchen: a 2.5x10 or 3x15 runner. Round and square sizes (4x4 to 8x8 ft) suit breakfast nooks and reading corners.
Handmade Craftsmanship
Each rug takes about 45 days and 10 stages to make — design graphing, wool washing and dyeing, knotting on the loom, clipping, washing, stretching and finishing. Every single knot is tied by hand at 90–100 KPSI for a dense, durable pile. We use only 100% pure New Zealand wool, prized for its natural lustre and softness. The fringe is the rug's own warp threads, and there is no glued backing, so the rug breathes and lies flat. Natural abrash — slight shade variation across the field — is the signature of a genuine hand-knotted rug.

FAQs
Is this rug 100% wool and truly hand-knotted?
Yes. It is 100% pure New Zealand wool with no synthetic fibers or blends, and every knot is tied by hand. It is not hand-tufted, power-loomed or printed.
Does a rust rug work with grey furniture?
Yes — the sage green border and cream motifs soften the rust, so it pairs well with warm grey, charcoal and greige as well as wood tones.
Can I order this design in a custom size or color?
Yes — we can weave this Sultanabad Oushak in any size, including oversized rugs above 12x18 ft, and adjust the colors to your project.
