A deep navy Oushak rug with real presence. Oversized ivory palmettes and silvery slate-blue leaves float on a rich navy blue field, linked by a graceful tree-of-life branch pattern and warmed with small rust accents. It's the kind of blue and ivory area rug that looks collected over years — classic enough for a traditional living room, clean enough for a modern, coastal or transitional home.

Why This Navy Blue Oushak Rug Works

Navy is one of the most-requested rug colors for American homes: it grounds a bright room, makes white and cream upholstery pop, and hides everyday wear far better than a pale rug. The large-scale botanical design leaves plenty of open navy ground, so the pattern reads calm and confident rather than busy. Pair it with white or slipcovered sofas, warm oak or walnut floors, brass lighting, linen and leather — it sits naturally in coastal, New England, Arts and Crafts, modern farmhouse and transitional interiors.

  • Color palette: navy blue, ivory, sky blue, slate blue-grey and rust
  • Large-scale floral tree-of-life Oushak layout with a soft blue-grey border
  • Vintage-inspired, Turkish Oushak style with a fresh, modern color story

Handmade, Knot by Knot

Each rug is hand-knotted on a traditional loom by artisan weavers in the Bhadohi–Mirzapur carpet belt of India, then hand-washed, trimmed and finished. No machines, no tufting gun, no glue.

  • 100% New Zealand wool pile on cotton warp and weft
  • Approx. 90–100 knots per square inch (KPSI)
  • No latex and no glued backing — turn it over and you can see every knot
  • Fringe is the rug's own warp threads, never sewn on
  • Gentle color variation (abrash) is the signature of hand-dyed wool, not a flaw
  • Brand new rug, made for you — never used

Which Size Do I Need?

  • Living room: 8x10 holds the front legs of your sofa and chairs; 9x12 or 10x14 fits all furniture legs for a finished, high-end look.
  • Dining room: 9x12 for a 6-seat table, 10x14 for 8 seats — chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. Choose a 6x6 or 8x8 round under a round table.
  • Bedroom: 8x10 under a queen bed, 9x12 under a king.
  • Entry & hallway: 2.5x10 or 3x9 runner; 2x3 or 3x5 at the door or by the sink.

Not sure? Read our Oushak Rug Size Guide or send us your room measurements and we'll recommend a size. Because every rug is knotted by hand, final dimensions can vary slightly (up to a few inches on larger sizes).

Care

Vacuum regularly on low suction without the beater bar. Blot spills right away with a clean cloth — never rub. Rotate every 6–12 months for even wear, trim (never pull) any loose yarn, and use a rug pad to stop slipping and protect the pile. Professional rug cleaning every 3–5 years. FAQs

Is this a genuine hand-knotted rug?
Yes. It is knotted by hand from 100% New Zealand wool with no latex or glued backing. Here's how to tell a real handmade Oushak.

How long will delivery take?
About 40–45 days from order to your door in the USA, with free tracked shipping.

Will the navy look like the photos?
The photos show the actual design and colors, but screens vary — navy can look slightly brighter or deeper on different devices. Message us anytime for extra photos or a closer look.

Will it shed?
Hand-knotted wool sheds far less than tufted rugs. Light fiber release in the first few weeks is normal and settles after a few vacuums.

Is it good for kids and pets?
Yes. Wool is naturally durable and stain-resistant, and the navy ground hides everyday soil well. See Oushak rugs for pets & kids.

Can I get it in another size or color?
Yes — choose from 31 sizes above or request a custom order.
