What is a Serapi rug?

Serapi is the name given to the finest grade of rug woven in the Heriz region of northwest Persia. The signature is a bold geometric medallion with generous open ground around it — less dense and more graphic than a formal Tabriz or Kashan. That openness is why Serapi designs sit so comfortably in contemporary interiors: the pattern gives the room a focal point without crowding it. This piece follows the traditional Serapi layout in a modern, washed-down colourway.

Frequently asked questions

Is the colour more blue or more grey?

Soft blue with a grey lean, warmed by taupe and camel outlining. Under warm bulbs it leans blue-grey; in north-facing daylight it reads cooler and more silvery. We'll send daylight video before you buy if you want certainty.

Is this an antique rug?

No — it's a new hand-knotted rug woven in the antique Serapi tradition, with the palette deliberately washed down. You get the aged look with none of the wear, moth damage or restoration risk of a genuine antique, at a fraction of the price.

Will it work in a high-traffic room?
