Each rug is 100% handmade and hand-knotted by master weavers in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur rug belt of India. Every single knot is tied by hand — roughly 45 days of work through 10 stages, from wool sorting and hand-spinning to dyeing, knotting, washing, clipping and finishing. We use only 100% pure New Zealand wool for its springy resilience, natural lanolin and soft hand-feel. At 90-100 KPSI (knots per square inch), the weave is dense and built to last for generations. There is no glued backing — the knots are the structure — and the fringe is integrated, made from the rug's own foundation warps. Gentle abrash (natural colour variation in hand-dyed wool) gives the orange field its rich, vintage glow.
