A sun-warmed rust-terracotta field blooms with ivory rosettes, soft lavender palmettes and saffron florals, framed by a pale sage-blue border — a classic vintage Oushak, hand-knotted in 100% pure New Zealand wool with every knot tied by hand.

Why This Rug Works in Your Room

  • The warm rust-terracotta field brings instant warmth to oak and light-wood floors and neutral walls.
  • A cool sage-blue floral border balances the warm centre, tying in greens, blues and blush accents in your décor.
  • An open, airy ivory-centred medallion keeps the design calm enough for large living and dining rooms.

Perfect For Every Room

Choose an 8x10 or 9x12 to anchor a living room seating group with the front legs of the sofa and chairs resting on the rug. In bedrooms, a 5x8 or 6x9 placed two-thirds under the bed frames the space beautifully. For dining rooms, a 10x14 leaves room for chairs to slide out without catching the edge. Entryways and reading nooks suit a 2x3 or 3x5, and the same design is woven as a runner (2.5x10, 2.5x15, 3x9, 3x15 ft) for hallways, kitchens and stairway landings.

Handmade Craftsmanship

This rug is 100% handmade and hand-knotted by master weavers in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur carpet belt of India — every single knot is tied by hand. Each piece takes around 45 days and passes through 10 production stages, from hand-spinning and dyeing the 100% pure New Zealand wool to knotting, washing, shearing and finishing. With a dense 90–100 knots per square inch (KPSI), there is no glued backing — the knots themselves form the structure, and the fringe is an integrated extension of the warp threads, not sewn on. Gentle abrash (natural tonal variation in the dyed wool) gives the surface the depth and character that only a true hand-knotted rug can have.

Where to Put It

Anchor a 9x12 under a living room seating group with linen sofas and rattan accents, or set a 10x14 beneath a farmhouse dining table where the sage border frames the chairs. It also glows in sunlit bedrooms and entry halls with whitewashed or honey-toned floors.

Care

Vacuum regularly on a low setting without the beater bar, rotate every 6 months for even wear, and blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth and cool water. For deep cleaning, use a professional hand-wash rug cleaning service. A non-slip rug pad is recommended on hard floors.

FAQs

What size works under a dining table?
Add about 24–30 inches on every side of the table. A 9x12 suits a six-seat table, while a 10x14 comfortably fits an eight- to ten-seat table with chairs pulled out.

Is this rug 100% pure New Zealand wool and hand-knotted?
Yes. It is woven from 100% pure New Zealand wool and is entirely hand-knotted — every knot is tied by hand, with no glued backing.

Will the colours vary from the photo?
Because the wool is hand-dyed, you will see gentle abrash (natural tonal shifts). This is a hallmark of a true hand-knotted rug and adds a vintage, lived-in charm.
