Original Oushak rugs come from Uşak in western Turkey. Antique and vintage Turkish Oushaks are collectible, often one-of-a-kind, and priced accordingly. They are ideal if you want a piece with age and history.

Indian (Bhadohi) Oushak rugs

Bhadohi, in Uttar Pradesh, is known as the "carpet city" of India and has a centuries-old hand-knotting tradition. Bhadohi weavers produce new hand-knotted rugs in the Oushak design — often in custom colors and sizes that are hard to find in vintage pieces.

What really decides quality

Origin alone does not make a rug good or bad. What matters is:

  • Is it truly hand-knotted, or tufted or machine-made?
  • Is the pile real wool?
  • Is the knotting dense and even?
