A quiet ivory field carved with a raised geometric maze of lines — this tone-on-tone sculpted rug is hand-tufted in 100% pure New Zealand wool by skilled artisans.
Why This Rug Works in Your Room
- Sculptural high-low texture adds depth and shadow without adding colour — the 2026 'texture first' look designers love.
- Warm ivory brightens dark floors and makes small rooms feel larger.
- The geometric carving pairs with rattan, boucle, oak and stone for a calm, organic-modern room.
Perfect For Every Room
In living rooms, an 8x10 or 9x12 grounds a neutral sofa group. In bedrooms, an 8x10 under a queen or king bed feels soft and hotel-like underfoot. In reading nooks, a 5x5 or 6x6 square or round adds texture under an accent chair. In entryways, a 3x5 brings warmth to stone or tile floors.
Handmade Craftsmanship
This rug is 100% handmade by hand-tufting in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur rug belt of India. Our artisans draw the design onto a foundation cloth stretched on a frame, then punch every strand of 100% pure New Zealand wool through the cloth by hand with a tufting tool. When tufting is complete, the back is coated with latex and a secondary cloth backing is glued on to lock the pile firmly in place. Finally, the pile is hand-carved — the pattern lines are cut by hand to create the raised high-low relief. Natural variation in the ivory wool gives the surface a soft, organic glow — a sign of true handwork, not a defect.

Care
Vacuum regularly without a beater bar and rotate the rug every 6 months for even wear. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub. Keep the rug dry: do not soak, steam-clean or wet-wash it, as excess moisture can damage the latex backing. Light shedding in the first few weeks is normal for a new tufted wool pile and settles with regular vacuuming. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner experienced with hand-tufted rugs. Use a non-slip rug pad underneath.
FAQs
Is an ivory rug practical?
Yes. Wool's natural lanolin helps resist stains, and the carved texture disguises light marks. Blot spills quickly and vacuum regularly.
Will the carving flatten over time?
The carved channels are cut into a dense hand-tufted pile, so the pattern stays defined. Rotating the rug every 6 months keeps wear even.
Is this rug 100% wool and handmade?
Yes. The pile is 100% pure New Zealand wool with no other fiber, and the rug is handmade by hand-tufting — our artisans punch every strand through the foundation cloth by hand. It is not machine-made.
What is the difference between hand-tufted and hand-knotted?
A hand-knotted rug is built knot by knot on a loom and has no glued backing. A hand-tufted rug, like this one, is made by punching wool through a foundation cloth with a hand-held tufting tool, then finished with a latex and cloth backing. Tufting allows a plush pile and deep, sculpted carving.
