A soft cream field with long, flowing carved lines that rise and dip underfoot — this sculpted minimalist rug is hand-tufted in 100% pure New Zealand wool by skilled artisans.

Why This Rug Works in Your Room

  • Hand-carved linear relief brings sculptural texture that changes with the light through the day.
  • Warm cream keeps the room bright, calm and timeless.
  • A quiet, tone-on-tone design that lets furniture and art take centre stage.

Perfect For Every Room

In living rooms, an 8x10 or 9x12 grounds a modern sofa group. In bedrooms, an 8x10 under a king or queen bed is soft and luxurious underfoot. In dining rooms, a 9x12 under a pale oak table creates a serene space. For hallways, our 2.5x10 or 3x9 runners carry the carved lines.

Handmade Craftsmanship

This rug is 100% handmade by hand-tufting in the Bhadohi-Mirzapur rug belt of India. Our artisans draw the design onto a foundation cloth stretched on a frame, then punch every strand of 100% pure New Zealand wool through the cloth by hand with a tufting tool. When tufting is complete, the back is coated with latex and a secondary cloth backing is glued on to lock the pile firmly in place. Finally, the pile is hand-carved — each line is cut by hand to create the raised high-low relief. Natural variation in the cream wool gives the surface a soft, organic glow — a sign of true handwork, not a defect.

Made to Order & Delivery

Every rug is made to order. From order to your door takes about 25-30 days (tufting, backing, finishing and shipping to the USA).

Care

Vacuum regularly without a beater bar and rotate the rug every 6 months for even wear. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub. Keep the rug dry: do not soak, steam-clean or wet-wash it, as excess moisture can damage the latex backing. Light shedding in the first few weeks is normal for a new tufted wool pile and settles with regular vacuuming. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner experienced with hand-tufted rugs. Use a non-slip rug pad underneath.

FAQs

What is a high-low carved rug?
The pile is cut to two heights, so the pattern is formed by texture instead of colour. The carving is done by hand after tufting.

Will 9x12 fit my room?
9x12 ft suits most living rooms of 12x15 ft or larger. For a typical 12x14 ft room, 8x10 ft is the better fit.

Is this rug 100% wool and handmade?
Yes. The pile is 100% pure New Zealand wool with no other fiber, and the rug is handmade by hand-tufting — our artisans punch every strand through the foundation cloth by hand. It is not machine-made.

What is the difference between hand-tufted and hand-knotted?
A hand-knotted rug is built knot by knot on a loom and has no glued backing. A hand-tufted rug, like this one, is made by punching wool through a foundation cloth with a hand-held tufting tool, then finished with a latex and cloth backing. Tufting allows a plush pile, crisp modern designs and sculpted carving.
