With a dense 90–100 knots per square inch (KPSI), there is no glued backing — the knots themselves form the structure, and the fringe is an integrated extension of the warp threads, not sewn on. Gentle abrash (natural tonal variation in the dyed wool) gives the surface the depth and character that only a true hand-knotted rug can have.
