Terracotta, camel and indigo — the warmest square we weave. The ground is a rich rust that shifts between brick and clay across the field, drawn over with coral blossoms, dusty-blue leaves, ochre buds and pale ivory vines, plus the small stylised creatures that give this Oushak its character. A broad camel-gold border carries the pattern outward, and deep indigo guard bands hold the edge like a frame around a canvas.

Knotted entirely by hand in the Bhadohi–Mirzapur belt. Rust and terracotta are among the hardest colours to hold steady across dye lots, so the field carries a gentle abrash — the tonal movement that separates hand-dyed wool from a printed rug.

Where to Put It

Under a round dining table: the best use of a square rug there is. Measure the table diameter and add 48 in — a 60 in round table wants 9x9, a 48 in round is comfortable on 8x8. Square sitting rooms: 8x8 for a four-seat group. Entry: 4x4 or 5x5 square, or 2x3 for a landing. Living room: 8x10 front legs on, 10x14 all legs on. Hallway: 2.5x10 or 3x15 runner.

Care

Vacuum weekly without a beater bar, rotate every 6–12 months for even wear, blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth, and use a rug pad to prevent slipping and extend the life of the pile. Professional wool-safe wash every 3–5 years.

Is the rust orange or red?
Closer to brick than orange — a warm, earthy terracotta with brown depth rather than a bright paprika.

What size for a round dining table?
Table diameter plus at least 48 in total. A 60 in round table wants a 9x9 square; a 48 in round sits comfortably on an 8x8.

Does it work with wood floors?
Especially well with mid and light oak. On very red-toned timber, the moss green or slate blue version of this design is the safer choice.

Will it shed or fade?
Knotted wool sheds far less than tufted. Rotate once a year and keep it out of constant direct sun and it will age slowly and evenly.
