Lilac Cross Flatweave Wool Rug — Handwoven Ivory & Lavender Scandinavian Dhurrie
A soft ivory ground scattered with hand-woven lilac crosses, framed by an alternating dot-and-coin border. This is Scandinavian minimalism at its most wearable — graphic enough to anchor a room, quiet enough to live with for years. Every cross is woven directly into the structure of the rug by hand on a traditional pit loom in Bhadohi, India, not printed or stamped on the surface.
Lilac is the colour designers are reaching for in 2026, and this rug delivers it the way it works best: as a soft-neutral wash against cream, warm oak, natural linen and pale plaster. It reads calm in a bedroom, playful in a nursery, and quietly modern in a living room.
Why You'll Love It
- Handwoven, not machine-made — flat-woven by artisan weavers using traditional dhurrie technique, so no two pieces are perfectly identical.
- Reversible — flip it seasonally to even out wear and effectively double the rug's life.
- Low profile — a slim flatweave that clears door swings, sits flat under dining chairs and layers beautifully over jute or sisal.
- 100% wool — naturally soil-resistant, resilient, biodegradable and warm underfoot.
- Colourfast dyes — the lilac stays lilac; no bleed, no rapid fade in daylight.
- Made to order in any size — including runners and oversized 10x14 formats.

Where It Works
- Living room — 8x10 or 9x12 so the front legs of your sofa (or all legs, if you can) sit on the rug.
- Bedroom — 8x10 under a queen, 9x12 under a king, so you step onto wool on both sides.
- Nursery & kids' room — the cross motif and soft lilac make this a long-lived alternative to novelty prints, and flat wool wipes clean easily.
- Dining room — the low pile means chairs pull out without catching.
- Hallway or entry — order as a custom runner in 2.5x8 or 2.5x10.
- Layering — place over a large natural jute rug for texture contrast, a look that's everywhere in Scandi and organic-modern interiors right now.
Styling Notes
Lilac behaves like a neutral when you keep the surrounding palette warm. Pair with cream boucle, unbleached linen, light oak or ash, and rattan. Add depth with olive or sage green, antique brass, and soft black accents. For a richer, cooler-weather version of the same room, layer in mulberry or aubergine textiles — the muted-to-jewel purple range is exactly where 2026 palettes are heading.
Care
Vacuum weekly using suction only — no beater bar on a flatweave. Rotate 180° every six months and flip once a year for even wear. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth; never rub. Professional cleaning is recommended for a full refresh. Always use a rug pad to prevent slipping and reduce abrasion from the floor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this rug reversible?
Yes. It's a true flatweave, so the pattern appears on both sides with the colours reversed. Flipping it seasonally evens out wear.
Is it safe for a nursery or kids' room?
Yes. It's 100% wool with AZO-free colourfast dyes and no latex backing, so there's no adhesive off-gassing. Wool is also naturally flame-resistant and doesn't trap dust the way synthetic fibres do.
Will the lilac fade?
The dyes are colourfast and washfast. As with any natural-fibre rug, direct all-day sunlight will soften any colour over years — rotating the rug twice a year prevents uneven fading.
Do I need a rug pad?
Yes, we strongly recommend one. Flatweaves are light and will shift on hard floors without a pad, and a pad adds cushioning and extends the rug's life.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes — any size, including runners and oversized formats. Message us with your dimensions for a quote. Custom orders take about 45 days to weave.
How is this different from a machine-made rug?
Every pick of weft is placed by hand by a trained weaver. That's why slight variations in the crosses and border exist — they're the signature of hand-weaving, not a defect.
