One navy Oushak design, thirty-two sizes, woven to order. From a 2x3 bedside mat to a 12x18 great-room piece, plus rounds, squares and hallway runners up to 15 feet. Nothing here is cut down from stock — each size is graphed and knotted for the order, so the border scales with the rug instead of getting cropped.

Choosing the Right Size

Getting the size wrong is the most expensive mistake in rug buying, and it is almost always the same mistake: ordering one size too small. Here is the arithmetic, room by room.

Living room, front legs on	8x10 — suits a 12x15 to 14x16 room, leaves 18–24in of floor around the perimeter
Living room, all legs on	10x14 — the configuration designers specify when budget allows; needed above 15x20
Dining, seats 6–8	9x12 — gives 24–30in beyond a 72–84in table so chairs stay on wool when pulled back
Dining, seats 10	10x14 or 12x15 — full chair clearance on all four sides
King bed	9x12 — roughly 24in of rug on both sides and at the foot
Queen bed	8x10, or 5x8 laid across the foot as a landing
Study or home office	5x8 under desk and chair with room to roll back
Hallway	2.5x10, 2.5x13 or 2.5x15 — the 2.5ft width leaves 4–6in of floor each side of a 3ft corridor
Entry or breakfast nook	4x4 to 8x8 round or square

Why the Long Runners Matter

Most runners stop at 8 or 10 feet, which is why long hallways end up with two rugs butted together and a visible seam down the middle. We weave to 13 and 15 feet so a corridor is covered in one piece. A dark ground is also the right call in a hallway, where a pale runner shows the walking line within months.

The Rug Itself

A midnight navy field, running to ink at the borders and opening to slate through the centre — natural abrash from wool dyed in small separate batches. Scattered across it are stepped rosettes, cartouches and serrated star-forms in petrol teal, antique gold, moss green, aubergine plum, crimson and cream, inside a wide palmette-and-vine border.

Lead Time & Custom Dimensions

Because every size is made to order, a dimension not listed is not a problem — it changes the drawing, not the craft. If your room needs 8x11, 9x13 or a 2.5x18 runner, ask and we will quote it. Oversized, round, square and runner formats are all available in this design.

Care

Vacuum weekly with the beater bar off. Rotate 180° once a year so light and traffic age the rug evenly. Blot spills immediately — never rub. A wool-safe professional wash every 3–5 years. A felt-and-rubber pad protects the foundation and stops slipping.

Size FAQs

Should I size up or down if I am between sizes?
Up, almost always. A rug that is slightly too large reads as intentional; one that is slightly too small makes the whole room look underfurnished.

How much floor should show around the rug?
18–24 inches in a living room is the usual target. In a small room you can drop to 8–12 inches without it looking wrong.

Do the motifs shrink on the smaller sizes?
The drawing is rescaled for each size rather than cropped, so a 4x6 carries a proportionally smaller version of the same field and border. The rug never looks like a fragment.

What size rug goes under a round dining table?
A round rug 4 feet wider than the table diameter — so a 5ft round table wants an 8x8 round.

Can I order a runner and area rug that match?
Yes, and they will be woven from the same dye lot if ordered together, which keeps the abrash consistent between pieces.
