A soft ivory field with teal-blue, coral and leaf-green palmettes, framed by a rich teal border — this hand-knotted Sultanabad Oushak rug is 100% pure New Zealand wool, every knot tied by hand by master weavers in Bhadohi-Mirzapur, India.

Why This Rug Works in Your Room

  • Bright, versatile cream base: the ivory ground keeps rooms light and pairs with almost any floor or sofa color.
  • Teal that pops: the deep teal-blue border and motifs bring a fresh, collected look — at home in coastal, traditional, eclectic and modern farmhouse spaces.
  • The classic Sultanabad pattern: large palmettes linked by angular vines form an open allover lattice, so the rug looks balanced from every angle.

Perfect For Every Room

Living room: an 8x10 or 9x12 anchors a sofa and two chairs. Bedroom: a 6x9 under a queen bed, an 8x10 under a king. Dining room: a 9x12 or 10x14 lets chairs slide out without catching the edge. Entryway: a 3x5 or 4x6. Hallway and kitchen: a 2.5x10 or 3x15 runner. Round and square sizes (4x4 to 8x8 ft) suit breakfast nooks and reading corners.

Handmade Craftsmanship

Each rug takes about 45 days and 10 stages to make — design graphing, wool washing and dyeing, knotting on the loom, clipping, washing, stretching and finishing. Every single knot is tied by hand at 90–100 KPSI for a dense, durable pile. We use only 100% pure New Zealand wool, prized for its natural lustre and softness. The fringe is the rug's own warp threads, and there is no glued backing, so the rug breathes and lies flat. Natural abrash — slight shade variation across the field — is the signature of a genuine hand-knotted rug.

FAQs

Is this rug 100% wool and truly hand-knotted?
Yes. It is 100% pure New Zealand wool with no synthetic fibers or blends, and every knot is tied by hand. It is not hand-tufted, power-loomed or printed.

Is an ivory rug practical for a family home?
Dense New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant thanks to its lanolin, and the busy allover pattern hides everyday wear. Blot spills quickly and vacuum regularly.

Can I order this design in a custom size or color?
Yes — we can weave this Sultanabad Oushak in any size, including oversized rugs above 12x18 ft, and adjust the colors to your project.
